Father’s Day is around the corner and it’s time to start thinking of how we can spoil Dad in the month ahead. It can be tricky to find something unique, yet fun enough to tempt Dad from the creature comforts that the couch offers. The North Star team put together 5 ways to treat Dad with fun activities and experiences to get out and about and show him some love.
1. Sip and Smoke
Treat Dad to an indulgent evening of enjoying a fine cigar and a smooth glass of brandy in beautiful surroundings. Our select menu of Cuban cigars is the perfect accompaniment for a chilled-out evening at the North Star bar. They pair perfectly with any brandy or whiskey from our menu. Dad is sure to find some interesting conversations among the locals hanging out at the bar. It makes for a fun evening doing something a bit out of the normal routine and indulging in some of the finer luxuries of life.

2. Dads deserve a spa day to
A good massage is beneficial for almost everybody. Whether dad sits behind a desk all day or does a more manual job. Some muscle groups are probably sore because of repetitive actions or being held in the same position over long periods. Regular massages can help alleviate this imbalance and relax and relieves some of the tension carried in the body. Book Dad in for a massage at the North Star wellness centre or get him a few gift vouchers so he can use them when needed.
For the whole of June, the North Star Wellness Centre has a Father and Son deal available. Enjoy a file, buff and shine gents mani and gents pedi, followed by a back massage for only R700. Book your treatment with Nicole at +27 73 091 6759

3. For Steak’s Sake
If your dad lives for a good steak – make sure to bring him to the North Star to sample some of the delicious steaks on our menu. We source only the best meat and our chefs know all the secrets to cooking the perfect steak.
The 250g Sirloin is served with a zingy pepper sauce, onion rings, and fries. We recommend a bottle of Rocim Alicantebouschet with it. This Portuguese wine has a deep ruby and violet colour and is fresh and mineral. Floral notes are typical of the grape variety and spicy notes from the barrel aging.
The 250g Fillet is served with roast potatoes and grilled veggies – you can also add on some prawns to make it even more memorable. We recommend a bottle of Los Boldos Cabernet Sauvignon to go with it. This Chilean wine is an intense red. It has aromas of ripe red and black fruits, with notes of black pepper and chocolate.

4. Father’s Day Sunday Buffet
Our Sunday Sessions buffet lunches quickly got very popular – and with good reason. When you mix good food and a live DJ with the best beach views in Umhlanga you’ve got a recipe for a good time.
Bring the whole family for a fun day of celebrating Dad at the North Star. A table on the lawn under one of the striped umbrellas, relaxed tunes in the background and tables groaning under the buffet dishes is the perfect way to celebrate as a family. With a wide variety of dishes including choice cuts of Guilderfruig Angus Beef – it’s the perfect way to show Dad the love he deserves! The full buffet menu for the day can be viewed on our FaceBook Page.
